Our luminaries – the esteemed STASYS Eidrigevičius and the beloved SIGUTĖ Chlebinskaitė, magical books with sensitive stories, and the bubbles of our workplace, modestly placed among the most honourable cultural and educational organisations in the Book Fair programme – what could they have in common here?!
“My sisters and I are sitting with our heads down…
Sitting with my sisters, I let my head down…”
May. A third of us here at the boards from Aukštaitijos… From Panveza… From Pa Utenas… The boards in Vilnius are offered in the Pan-Venetian way. Better buy than Kaunas and Klaipeda. Really.
That’s it. Even before Stasys joined Brolia’s boards, we all bought the new Stasia’s books “The Singing Rooster’s Head” in bulk. It’s written in the same language. Speaking in words and images straight to the soul. Very real. We voted for the best, because that’s what it is.
Then Sigute dropped by. “Didn’t it used to happen to you as a child that you’d sit and stare at the wooden door, and all sorts of fairy-tale creatures would come out of the swirls of the tree and start watching, moving, creating stories?” It used to be. Paper is such a purified, “uncharacterised” tree. Just a background. And the real one? So, he himself with stories.
And so the miracles began.
The BROLIS boards fell into the most talented hands, into the company of the most magical books. They became something special.
The tree inspires.
And bright people even more so.
Thank you so much, Sigute, Stasy, and everyone who contributed!
